The line was so long that my heart leapt into my throat and gave me a brief, but sudden, rush of blood to my brain that caused a millisecond blackout. Luckily, my knees sustained my weight and I remained perpendicular to the infamous PDX carpet. I regained my mental focus and moved swiftly towards the tail of the wrapping line. My plane began boarding in 19 minutes. Which meant the doors would probably close in 25 more minutes – or exactly 44 minutes from this very second.
